We don’t live in America. We live in a country with a population of 9 million people and that means that… I don’t really know where I am going with this sentence. My point is that we are not fortunate enough to attend things like Bookcons or Book Expo America because it is in AMERICAAAAAH!
So instead we sit on our beds with our laptops warming our legs as we talk about the 5 authors we would have been able to meet IF we were in AMERICAAAAAH!
#1 Maggie Stiefvater
Raven: I am crazy about the Raven Cycle. The last book released on 26th last month and I am currently not in a position to read it and it frustrates me to no end. If I meet her I’ll probably just collapse and cry. What frustrates me even more is that SOME people started reading her series just a couple of months ago and they have ALREADY FINISHED READING RAVEN KING!!! I want to desperately call them fake fans but it’s not right or fair and aaaargh I’m just so angry.
Beez: Maggie Stiefvater is queen. Maggie Stiefvater is queen. Maggie Stiefvater is queen. I love her, I adore her and I will pass out if I meet her.
#2 Ada Palmer
Raven: Ada Palmers book “Too Like the Lightning” is releasing on May 10th but I’ve already read it cause NetGalley and I will be writing a full review on this book soon (You’ll probably see it on Sunday) but all you need to know is that I loved this book so much and I have a gazillion questions to ask her.
#3 Meg Cabot
Raven: The only reason I want to meet her is because she wrote the Mediator series which sort of dominated the beginning of my teenage years and I wanna thank her for giving us Jesse de Silva.
Beez: Say what you want about Meg Cabot, but I’ve read a lot of her books and I’ve enjoyed them loads. I even recently brought All American girl (for cheap). My favorite of her books are the Mediator series or the 1800-where-are-you series.
#4 David Levithan
Beez: I intensely love David Levithan’s writing, I think it’s so good and warm and creeps up to you in so many wonderful ways. Gotta read more of his books and would love to meet him.
#5 Ransom Riggs
Raven: A superb book (I HAVE ONLY READ THE FIRST BOOK! *more frustrated screaming*) with an amazing plot. I just need to meet the man.
Beez: Ransom Riggs wrote a wonderful book I wish I had in my childhood because it’s all I ever wanted (and still do) but I didn’t know it yet. Now that I do, he kind of has a special position.
Special Mentions:
1. Eoin Colfer
Raven: This mans Artemis Fowl series was one of the first series I ever read (even before Harry Potter I believe) and he made me love writing and reading so much. I had read it from the library but recently I was able to get my hands on the 2nd and 3rd of the Artemis Fowl series for just 10 bucks! My mini library is slowing growing and it makes me so happy.
Beez: I used to read Artemis Foul and I really enjoyed the books. They were my entry into sci-fi before I was specifically into sci-fi. I loooved the Arctic Incident.
2. Gene Luen Yang
Raven: This fabulous guy wrote Avatar: The last airbender graphic novels (Along with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and the amazing illustrator Gurihiru) which makes me cry every time I read it cause I miss the series so god damned much! *can’t stop crying*
Beez: I believe he wrote the graphic novel, American born Chinese and I have wanted to read it for ages and ages.

The Mediator series was my favourite of Meg Cabot’s book too. And Jesse! 😍

A 100 times YES for Maggie. I so, so loved scorpio races and raven boys 🙂 My faves ❤ I can't wait to see what her next series will be.

I found a 1st edition Shiver hardback in a charity store ( bought and rehomed in my bookshelf ready to read) I have followed Maggie since my daughter introduced me to her – and because she is an artist in all senses – her drawings inspire me to do better at mine. Kat ( yes I am reading it as soon as I can)

Great list! I really have to try Stiefvater soon, I’m like the only person I know who hasn’t read her yet.
