Raven’s birthday post

So I celebrated my 19th birthday on January 25th and honestly I hadn’t had that much fun on my birthday in almost three years! I am being totally honest.

My birthday honey cake

There is a tiny story behind why my honey cake doesn’t have ‘Happy Birthday’ written on it:

1. It’s too mainstream to write a simple ‘Happy Birthday’.

2. When Beez and I decide to do anything together it’s almost always crazy, like the time we mixed two drinks together with a bit of coke and made it taste like sour candy (this recipe is not recommended)

3. I had been listening to the song ‘Afraid’ by the Neighbourhood and this was the only line stuck in my head at the time (It’s a great song by the way) so when Beez suggested I write something unconventional on my cake that’s the first thing I could think of and the poop emoji is my aesthetic so it had to be there.

Now since my presents were all books this year I decided to make a post about it (Yay me!)

My annoying yet amazing sister who is only 12 by the way, saved up her pocket money and gifted me The Hollow City by Ransom Riggs, the second book in the Miss Peregrine’s peculiar children series along with a cute colourful panda card.

If anyone remembers our tbr post you would know that this series is on our list of series-we-really-need-to-read.

I can’t wait to finally read what happens.

The tiny little box is a gift from another friend

The second and last gift I received, was from Beez. It’s Stay where you are and then leave by John Boyne, a book that holds such a special place in my heart. I had read a library book but I had fallen so much in love with it that I had needed to own a physical copy of it and Beez finally gave it to me. I have a review of it and I’ll post it ASAP.

I love this book so much that I am planning on rereading it (something that I rarely do since there are so many other books that need my attention).

She also wrote the most sweetest letter in the world and I am so glad to have put up with her shenanigans because all of it is finally paying off.

Do not judge my use of ketchup for blood!

Lastly I went to the amazing bookstore a.k.a Kinokuniya, here in Dubai and bought myself a book as a present to myself (any excuse to buy a book, I’ll take it). I have had I HUNT KILLERS by Barry Lyga on my mind for as long as I can remember. I had read the first few pages and I have heard such good things about it that I really needed to get it, I mean the son of a killer getting together with cops to solve murder mysteries while also trying to fight his own killing impulses? Hell yeah!

So that’s all I have got to say for now. If you’ve got any opinions on the books mentioned here don’t forget to tell me about it (just keep it spoiler free). I hope you all have a great fun filled day.

Lots of love and pasta,

Raven~
